PRESIDENTS REPORT 2019/2020 SEASON
On behalf of your Club and the elected Board, may I take this opportunity to personally
welcome each and every one of you to the Coffs Harbour Swimming Club.
Just to re-cap on last year, the Club had another successful membership season with 310 registering elevating the Club to the 6th largest Regional Club in
NSW. Many club records were broken throughout last season. A number of individual and relay regional records were also broken which can be found on the Swimming North Coast website.
The Swimming North Coast Summer Area Championships was
held in November last year. The meet was the largest Regional Area Championships in NSW and once again for the 8th consecutive year, Coffs Club was able to host it.
In 2011 when the Far North Coast and Mid North Coast Swimming Associations
merged to become Swimming North Coast, Coffs hosted the inaugural Championships. That year Coffs was represented by 3 swimmers and only a handful of committee members, however last year the Club offered 81 swimmers for the meet and the most exciting result
was that Coffs won the overall point score with over 8000 points, 1600 points ahead of Trinity and Port Macquarie Clubs respectively.
The Clubs own Coffs Summer Splash in January 2019 was very successful again with over 200 swimmers attending.
Our Friday night Club nights will commence on Friday October 11th 2019 from 5.30pm. New families are encouraged to seek out Board members for advice on the Club night procedures. The Board members will endeavour to answer
any questions from new members as well. You can download this booklet from our website www.coffsharbourswimclub.com for future reference.
Friday nights are our regular Club nights and a program will be displayed setting out the swims
for each evening. In order for these nights to be successful, the Club requires volunteers to act as timekeepers. The night cannot proceed without the assistance of three timekeepers per lane. Please volunteer as your assistance is greatly appreciated and
the event will run more efficiently.
We also have the Club BBQ on offer each Friday night. Chicken kebabs and sausage sambos chicken/beef burgers are on offer for a minimal fee. The BBQ has for many years been a fantastic opportunity
to raise much needed funds for the Club.
During the 2019-2020 season we are hoping many of our competitive swimmers will attend development and qualifying carnivals and maybe even State and National meets. The Club views all carnivals
as a social and enjoyable event for the whole family. The North Coast has a strong competitive arm within the State and our Club has continued to be part of their success.
Many Board organisational hours have been consumed building the
Club up to its present strength and involvement within the swimming community. We hope you all enjoy the swimming season ahead.
Yours in swimming
