 PRESIDENTS REPORT 2020/2021 SEASON

Welcome to the new season of swimming club here at Coffs Harbour Swim Club to both returning members and new members. Without the support of our Board members and families our Club can not operate and I would like to thank Richard Lloyd for his dedication to the Club for so many years building the Coffs Harbour Swim Club up to the successful Club that it is today.

The 2019/2020 season was one to remember due to local fires, inclement weather and then the start of COVID-19 shutdowns affected our Club Championships. Despite these circumstances Coffs Harbour had another successful season and remains one of the largest regional clubs in NSW. Throughout the season many swimmers went on to break long standing Club and Regional records.

Friday night swim club meets were again a success with returning and new members enjoying the atmosphere that these nights are known for, giving the swimmers a chance for race practice and have fun!

The Swimming North Coast Championship were held in Port Macquarie for the 2019/2020 season and Coffs Harbour once again dominated and won the overall point score for the meet. Congratulations to all the swimmers who competed at the meet and parents and coaches for your ongoing support.

This years SNC Championship Division 1 will be held at Banora Point later on in the season.Coffs Harbour Swim Club was represented at many other Local, Regional and State meets as well last season with several medals won at SNSW Country Championships held at SOPAC.

In January 2020 Coffs Harbour hosted our own meet with the Summer Splash carnival proving to be a popular event held in the Christmas School Holidays with many visiting swimmers competing. We look forward to seeing lots of Coffs Harbour swimmers at our meet again this year to be held on the 16th January 2021 and hoping many of our competitive swimmers will attend other development and qualifying Carnivals. The Club views all carnivals as an opportunity to further the swimming aspirations of our swimmers which can lead onto Country, State and National swimming which the Club has always encouraged. The North Coast has a strong competitive arm within the State and our Club has continued to be part of their success.

This upcoming season will be different from any other before given the current circumstances with COVID-19 restrictions still in place limiting numbers that can be within the pool facility at any one time, as well as limiting numbers of swimmers at carnivals.  Due to these restrictions we will be changing the way in which swimmers enter into events for Friday night swim club as wellas different marshalling requirements and spectator limits. We ask that families and parents are understanding of this and offer their assistance when required to ensure we are able to transition with the times.

Have a great season!
